History and Background of IYC

The International Yoga College was established in 1996 as the American Yoga College by Rama Jyoti Vernon, Mukunda Stiles and Nancy Ford-Kohn. The American Yoga College was built on the foundation of the California Institute for Yoga Teacher Education, founded by Rama Jyoti Vernon in 1974.

In 2004, the college changed its name to the International Yoga College (IYC), and expanded its focus of training to include national and international work: sending teachers to other countries, and bringing interested students to the United States to train. IYC is dedicated to offering authentic teachings through advanced yoga study and teacher training worldwide.
