Regional Affiliates

Regional Affiliates are IYC approved Centers with 200-hour certification programs that meet the standards of IYC. They are chosen for their knowledge of a variety of methodologies and their ability to integrate body, mind and spirit into a mature and in-depth study of yoga through asana and the breath. Regional Affiliates offer classes that are given geographically accessible to students. These classes are in compliance with the core curriculum and high-quality standards of IYC.

Affiliates are selected for their non-sectarian and comprehensive teaching style that includes breath, alignment and a psycho-philosophical approach to the study and teaching of asana.

Credit hours from classes taken at Regional Affiliate Centers can be transferred into the IYC 500-hour certification program. Credit hours can also be issued for other approved courses offered by Regional Affiliate approved teachers and satellite faculty members if aligned with IYC core curriculum and suggested electives that enhance the awareness of Yoga.

National Affiliation

Yoga Alliance

IYC is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 200 and 500-hour level. IYC Regional Affiliates may register with the Yoga Alliance under the IYC umbrella for the 200-hour certification.

Yoga Alliance registers yoga teachers who demonstrate qualifications that meet minimum teaching standards established by the organization's founding members. Yoga Alliance also registers yoga schools whose teacher training programs address those standards, assuring graduates are well-qualified to teach the practicing public.

Rather than offering yoga instruction, Yoga Alliance serves yoga teachers by providing support and recognition while honoring the diversity of all yoga practices and upholding the integrity of yoga.
